Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status with his folk-based pop songs most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell New Mexico. He fell in love Colorado. He eventually settled in Aspen. More than a few people traveled through Colorado after hearing Denver's popular tunes for the state he was raised in. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared the following: John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. Denver, the Hall of Fames' inaugural inductee was recognized with this honor in 2011. For many, Denver is the Colorado image. While traveling, I may meet people at the other side of the globe. As an example, you might meet an individual from New Zealand. And when you tell them you're from Colorado the response is "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief career performing in small folk bands was Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff originally wrote it with Johnny Cash's music in mind, but Denver was aware from the very first time he heard early versions that the song could be a huge popular. After performing the song at Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer released the song a couple of days from now.
